Report on Bronx, AIDS and injection drug abuse. (Short version)
Early on the Bronx, New York was hard hit by HIV because of the vast numbers of injecting drug users. There was 250 000 drug users in the Bronx in 1988, half of them infected by the virus by 1988, when this story with the 47th Police Precinct was filmed. Maria Fuentes is a victim of the injection drug abuse (IV) and was infected by her husband. The AIDS activists demanded more politicians in New York to act.
